Ventura County Film Festival Southern California's Most Significant Movie Showcase

The Ventura Film Festival functions as an all-inclusive international cinema festival that cultivates understanding of conservation issues such as woodland and marine conservation and recovery, via a yearly film showcase and corresponding activities. The festival leverages the impact of filmmaking to encourage participation and develop substantial discourse on these vital environmental matters.

The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has exhibited numerous cinematic works, regularly over 200 films during summer months, and has drawn recognition from the international film community. Distinguished events have encompassed presenting celebrated filmmaker Dylan here O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend and surf legend Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA competitor martial arts icon Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50-year anniversary of West Side Story, which included hosting the entire Academy Award winning cast of West Side Story, including Oscar recipient/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris as well as Golden Globe recipient/Oscar nominee Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival founder and executive director was selected to take part, together with many of Hollywood's biggest stars, in the 50th Anniversary tribute of West Side Story and Hollywood's prestigious footprint/handprint ceremony honoring Academy Award winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and Golden Globe winner Russ Tamblyn at the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This event also doubled as the official BluRay introduction by Fox and MGM of the classic West Side Story, which is generally recognized by critics and fans as the best musical of all time. This distinguished honor and involvement exemplifies the festival's important standing and distinguished reputation within the entertainment community.
